Mantle Upgrades to OP Succinct on Mainnet, Creating the World’s Largest ZK Rollup

Last year, Mantle Network announced its plan to adopt OP Succinct and transition into a ZK rollup. With today’s mainnet upgrade, the journey is complete: Mantle is now the world’s largest ZK rollup by TVL, with over $2 billion secured by Succinct’s technology.
From day one, we’ve believed that every rollup will be a ZK rollup. To realize that vision, we created OP Succinct, giving every OP Stack rollup the ability to become a ZK rollup.
Mantle was among the first to embrace OP Succinct. In their efforts to create the Liquidity Chain — an ecosystem where DeFi, RWAs, and institutional adoption can thrive — they realized that ZK was a hard requirement. With today’s protocol upgrade, they have laid the foundation for their next chapter. OP Succinct is now on Mantle mainnet, delivering:
- Institutional-grade fast finality. With Succinct’s technology, Mantle has enabled secure one-hour finality and six-hour withdrawals, a massive improvement over competing L2s with seven-day exits. This is a major draw for institutions looking to come onchain.
- Cost-effective proving. With the Succinct Prover Network, proving costs can be as low as $0.002 per transaction (and dropping). End users will experience the benefits of ZK without the disruptive fees.
These capabilities are making the Liquidity Chain real. With faster settlement secured by cryptography, a new class of applications will be possible. Capital will flow seamlessly between digital and real-world economies.
OP Succinct Works For Every Rollup
The Mantle integration highlights the power and flexibility of OP Succinct.
Mantle runs on a custom version of the OP Stack, and they also needed support for custom gas tokens and EigenDA. In their initial search for a ZK provider, Mantle evaluated zkEVMs but found the options lacking. Customization required hand-written ZK circuits, which are hard to build and difficult to maintain. Moreover, many zkEVMs are not fully Ethereum equivalent, creating friction for application developers.
OP Succinct solved all of their issues.
Because the product is built on SP1, our market-leading Rust zkVM, Mantle was able to write a custom state transition function that satisfied their product needs and their time-to-market goals. Furthermore, since OP Succinct is a type-1 zkEVM, application developers and end users were migrated seamlessly.
Every Rollup Should Follow in Mantle’s Footsteps
This milestone isn’t just about Succinct or Mantle.
Our shared vision has become a proof point for the entire Ethereum ecosystem, demonstrating that even the largest rollups can transition to ZK safely. Leaders like Vitalik have declared that ZK is a top priority for L2s. ZK is no longer optional — it’s a necessity for any serious rollup.
Moreover, Succinct has proven once again that it is the only production-ready ZK solution for the OP Stack. With Mantle, Succinct is securing an additional $2B in TVL.
